Second Time Around Vintage

At first it was difficult for me to find proper vintage shops in Cape Town. I now know about quite a lot of them, after doing lot's of research and running around the whole city, from Kalk Bay to Long Street. I've already talked about Portobello Road in Kenilworth, now it's time to show you some photos I took at one of the cutest vintage shop I found in Long Street: Second Time Around. Pink walls, vintage posters and photos, tons of accesories from bags to earrings and loads of vintage and second hand clothing. I couldn't take a proper picture of the whole shop or the clothes, but I did take photos at the decoration and details of the shop. I highly recomend this shop if you are a vintage lover and you're looking for beautiful earrings and stunning bags, they have the best stuff.

See you soon ;)

God Help The Girl

"A man needs to write just one genius song, one song that lives forever
in the hearts of the populous, to make him forever divine".

"Girls sing about my life
 but they're not here
 they've got the wild life"

"When I'm waiting for someone, I like to be in tropical southeast Asia".

"I feel like Tom Sawyer. We should definitely fake our own deaths".

"Light that comes in from outside
If you could catch it all
And pin it to your wall
Then you would sleep much better"

"Every moment we have is actually much more important than we take it for".

This is all my own opinion. First of all I have to say that I've been expecting this movie for a looong time and I could finally watch it about five days ago. I have already seen it twice, and I love it even more after the second time. Same happens with the OST; at first it sounded like a mess to me, but after watching the movie and actually listening to the music and lyrics I really fell in love with some songs, but I'll get there later. First, let's talk about the AMAZING cast. I new about this movie because I'm a big fan of Emily Browning, I think she's the prettiest person I have ever seen and she sings beautifully, and, of course, my best friend knows this and told me they were going to release this movie in which she was the main character together with Olly Alexander, which at first I knew as the "good-looking vampire in Penny Dreadful", and Hannah Murray, better known for her role as Cassie in Skins.

I started watching this movie just because of Emily Browning, but as the movie went on, I actually realised that the character I liked the most was James, played by Olly Alexander. James is tender and quite timid boy with glasses and asma, who plays the guitar and sings lovely; actually I was surprised because I completely loved his voice and he plays the guitar for real, which was a great thing in a musical movie as God Help The Girl. Emily Browning who playes Eve, sang beautifully, and she looked gorgeous through the whole movie, actually, I couldn't stop telling my boyfriend how beautiful she was. But, sadly I have to admit that I think Hannah Murray wasn't the right choice for this movie went it came to singing. She playes Cassie, a rich girl who takes music lessons from James and becomes friends with him and Eve. She sings with a way too high pitch, which sometimes was unbearable to hear, and when it comes to the story, she isn't that important as James or Eve. These two had deeper and more complicated roles, and Cassie was just too...flat. Not because Hannah is a bad actress, no way, she's good, It's just that I think the character she plays was a bit unnecessary and she doesn't have the right voice pitch to sing.

The music, I loved. Not at first as I said, but after listening to it properly the second time I watched the movie. You can see how the lyrics talk about Eve's life and perspective of things. Music in this movie was great, it made it much easier to understand feelings and made the characters much more sincere. I was completely amazed with Olly's voice while he sang "I Dumped You First", just loved it! And I never before had the chance to know exactly how well Emily Browning could sing. The lyrics were weird to me at first, very mundane and simple sometimes, but the words and feelings are well chosen. The music was brilliant. I specially loved "I Suppose That Was A Prayer", "God Help The Girl", "I Dumped You First", "The Psychiastrist Is In", "Pretty Eve In The Tub", "Come Monday Night", "I'll Have To Dance With Cassie" and "I Just Want Your Jeans".

Another thing I loved about this movie were the clothes, such an inspiration! I loved the british 60's vibes they had going on, and the simple make up. Chunky knits, tartan, Doc Martens, extra short dresses, paisley, polo shirts, berets and bowler hats. I got lot's of outfit ideas from this movie.

See you soon! ;)

Autumn wishlist

Here's my lastest wishlist which is just a small part of my complete list....It's a pain that my blog template doesn't feature these kind of images properly, but hope it's still good enough. My recent favorite items are, of course, from The WhitePepper. I really really reaaaally want their "egg print shift dress", it looks lovely! I also liked their "jersey smock dress in silver", I think it's simple but comfy and would look great with so many things. New Balance, THE trainers, the perfect sporty shoe, in ox red, is there anything better? Not to me! I'm hoping to get a pair this christmas, but they're soooo expensive...And last but not least, from FjällRaven, the Kanken classic backpack in ox red, I've been after a Kanken backpack for way too long now, sooner or later I'll buy myself one, for sure!

Lush Haul II

Heres another post about the wonderful bath range from Lush. This time I bought these lovely bath products: Sunny Side and The Comforter bubble bars, plus Sakura ballistic.

When it comes to smells I love florals or sweet scents, but this time I went for something different and chose Sunny Side, which has a lovely citric and floral smell. Its an amazing bubble bar that moisturizes your skin and makes a lot of bubbles! It's covered in a golden shimmer and has little golden pips.

Sakura ballistic is a bath bomb created by Lush's japanese branch. The smell, of course, is very floral and subtle, nothing sweet nor too heavy. It's a white ball with pink and blue "dots", and on top it's got pieces of sea salt in a blue/ green colour. But though all it's colours, it dyes the water white, which was a bit of a disappointment because I expected something amazing to happen...but still, the smell is wonderful and it leaves your skin very soft the from the moment you get in the water.

The Comforter is a huge bubble bar, it has a very sweet smell, like real candy. As I first said, it's big! So big you can break it in two or even four pieces if you want it to last. I actually keep a small part in my cupboard, not for too long because they get a bit squishy with humidity, so always use your Lush products as soon as possible, always fresh. In the water it makes tons of bubbles and leaves your skin veeery soft. I think the best part is the smell, I just love it.

Thanks for reading ;)
Bye loves!

M.A.C cosmetics - Vegas Volt

Ok. So I've got this weird (and nearly obsessive) thing for lipsticks. This summer, while I was in Cape Town, I bought three different M.A.C cosmetics lipsticks, and although I know I should stop, It's really difficult! To me, M.A.C cosmetics has the best colour range of lipsticks I have ever seen. Seriously the best lipstick colours I know about! The formula is great too and the price is reasonable for the quality of their products. I too love Nars's colour range for lipsticks and specially their blushes but there is nothing like M.A.C cosmetics to me when it comes to lipsticks.

This last lipstick I bought at M.A.C cosmetics in Cavendish Square is Vegas Volt. It's an orange/ coral colour, with pink undertones. It's a gorgeous colour to wear in summer and I couldn't resist buying it. Again, the colour. The smell is also lovely, as in every M.A.C cosmetics lipstick. It doesn't smudge and it stays on for quite a long time, it's also very moisturazing.

See you soon! :)

Imagenius

I'd like to talk about one of the amazing shops I discovered this last time I was in Cape Town.
While walking around Long Street, I stepped into one of the most lovely shops I've ever seen, Imagenius (117 Long Street). This shop has a magical vibe. It sells anything you're looking for, from rings, to clothes, shoes, home decorations, lamps, vintage toys...All sorts of wondeful stuff. This is what makes it so much fun to go in; you walk around the shop and you find interesting and nice things one after another. It's like a huge treasure box, waiting for you to explore every tiny spot. Here are just some of the interesting stuff I found. I specially fell in love with a gorgeous pair of red heels from Vivienne Westwood x Melissa.

 These beauties!! I need them!!

Hope you liked this post!
Bye!

Café Paradiso

If you live or someday visit Cape Town you definitely must go at least once to lovely Cafe Paradiso, which is located in Kloof Street. I went this summer with my sister and father, who invited us for breakfast. Cafe Paradiso has a lovely and rustic appareance, I took some photos of the inside, but you can also sit outside in the front entrance which is actually a patio.

This last pic is of my bag, from Missibaba, one of my favorites. I thought it looked nice with the brown wood so I took a photo for fun. I also took a photo of part of the menu; for breakfast my sister and I ordered a delicious cranberry juice, one of my favorites, my father had a Bloody Mary which I generally hate, not because Cafe Paradiso one was badly made, but because I just can't stand any kind of Bloody Mary...yuck! To eat, my father ordered the classic omelette with tomato, onion and cheese which was huge! and for just 55 Rand (3,92 Euros) which was even more amazing. And my sister and I ordered the french toast with fried banana, crispy bacon and maple syrup. For me, there's no better combination than maple syrup, banana and bacon, it's a match made in heaven! And after trying this delicious breakfast I can now say it's one of my favorite foods. I highly recommend this for breakfast, if you ever go to Cafe Paradiso you should at least try it, it's the best french toast I'ver ever had and the banana makes a perfect mix with the bacon and the maple syrup. Three pieces of french toast, three bacon strips, one banana and lot's of maple syrup topped with a strawberry and some mint leaves for 60 Rand (4,28 Euros). Again, the most delicious breakfast I've had in months!

Hope you liked this post, if you have any questions,
please feel free to comment. Bye!
